Celebrations were held in Yalta on August 11, 2018 to mark the 180^th anniversary of the city’s foundation. This is the second time in a row the Khersones sailing ship congratulates the pearl of Crimean resorts on its birthday and takes part in the solemn celebrations.

In honor of City Day an open board has been organized on the FSUE “Rosmorport” frigate. Excursions have been organized for the guests and residents of Yalta. Those who wished could match strength against students of maritime universities in tugging war who are training on the vessel. Cadets not only welcomed the guests aboard the vessel, but also took part in the city events. They visited museums of the city, such as the Yalta history and literature museum, the Livadia Palace and the Park-Museum Reserve, the Museum “The Meadow of Fairy Tales”, the Alupka Palace and the Park-Museum Reserve, the Massandra Museum-Palace of Emperor Alexander III and the Swallow’s Nest Palace.

Participants in the all-Russian regatta “Black Sea Cup 2018” have been awarded aboard the legendary sailing ship. The regatta has been held in the water area of Yalta. The frigate’s captain, Dmitry Teslenko, presented prizes and souvenirs to the winners of the competitions. The ceremony has been attended by head of the city administration Alexei Chelpanov.

Carnival processions, exhibitions and fairs, festivals and musical performances have been also held on the City Day. The Yalta band took part in a wind music concert on the main street of the city. Grandiose fireworks have become the culmination of the solemn events.
