The Khersones takes part in celebrations marking Russia’s Navy Day

The Khersones frigate took part in the celebrations marking Russia’s Navy Day, which took place in the hero city of Sevastopol on July 29, 2018.

A solemn ceremony was held to lay wreaths to the Eternal Flame of the Memorial of the Heroic Defense of Sevastopol.

The historic canon round has become a signal for starting the parade. The canon has been erected on the Primorsky Boulevard near the Monument to Sunken Ships.

The Khersones three-mast sailing ship opened the parade. The FSUE “Rosmorport” frigate entered the water area of Sevastopol in full sail and passed by war ships and viewing stands. The sailing ship takes part in the parade for the second year in a row and has become an unforgettable present for the guests and residents of the city.

Over 30 war ships of the Black Sea Fleet and operational aircraft participated in the naval parade. Upon completion of the parade, the sea fight against special forces units and the waltz of inshore tugs have been demonstrated.

This holiday military sports shows, theatrical performances, topic-based excursions, navy equipment exhibitions and a solemn concert have been held in the city.

Russia’s Navy Day is the major holiday of Sevastopol. The history of the city is closely connected with the history of the Black Sea Fleet. The event is held annually on the last Sunday of July and is the most attended holiday.
