FSUE “Rosmorport” presents sea professions to children in Artek

On July 22, 2018 an excursion for the participants of the FSUE “Rosmorport” thematic session was conducted on the Khersones sailing ship in the Artek International Children's Center. To board the frigate, the children visited the capital of the Crimean resorts – the city of Yalta.

The vessel's crew and cadets that are undertaking educational sailing internship on the Khersones sailing ship conducted masterclasses and sea disciplines lessons for the participants of the children's session as well as presented the vessel's engineering to the young guests. The children went to the command bridge, stood abaft the wheel, saw the sail-loft, cadet's quarters and classrooms.

The frigate's captain Dmitri Teslenko told the children about the ship's history, voyages and its racing experience. The children were interested in the educational programs on the vessel's board and asked a number of questions on the knowledge and skills necessary for the present seamen in faraway voyages.

The FSUE “Rosmorport” specialized session “Sea-romance-profession” will take place in Artek till August 04, 2018. 75 children from different regions of Russia have become its apprentices. The winners of the all-Russian competition “My Port” will survey modern technical achievements in the field of marine facilities, broaden their knowledge about the history and traditions of the Russian fleet and acquire the skills in the marine affair in the well-known Children's Center.

The excursions organized under the FSUE “Rosmorport” educational program are designed for the education of the rising generation, popularization of the marine professions and support of the sea traditions. It may be an exciting experience for someone, and a start in the future profession for another.
