On July 10, 2018 during the educational trip to the hero-city of Novorossiysk, the participants of the thematic camp shifts under FSUE “Rosmorport” in the children’s camp “Orlyonok (Little Eagle)” visited the sailing ship “Khersones” and the University of sea and river fleet of Admiral F.F. Ushakov.

The winners of “My Port” Competition which was organized by the enterprise, had an excellent opportunity to climb aboard the three-masted frigate, where they were greeted by the “Khersones” frigate crew members. The “little eagles” were given a tour by the cadets undergoing sailing training practice. They have introduced the young guests to the vessel, showed all cabins, canteen, kitchens and other interior spaces, talked about their learning experiences and practical training. The children were able to stand at the helm of “Khersones” frigate feeling the spirit of sea adventures, taking on the role of real sailors.

The captain of the frigate - Dmitry Teslenko praised the high level of curiosity displayed by the kids. They have asked most interesting and sometimes much unexpected questions about the ship. He also noted that in the future he would really like for them to join his crew.

The excursion program of the trip also included the visit to the University of sea and river fleet of the Admiral F.F. Ushakov. The kids were shown real training simulators for future sailors. The modern navigation simulator was able to display some of the seaports of Russia and to track the movement of vessels in the straits and seaports in the real-time mode. After the practical training Rector of the University Sergey Kondratiev explained peculiarities of various maritime professions and possibilities of receiving maritime education at the educational facilities of maritime industrial sector. At the very end of the event the participants have taken photos as mementos.

The Excursions organized in the framework of the educational program of the FSUE "Rosmorport" are aimed at education of the younger generation and popularization of maritime profession. Such programs are needed in order to support and continue maritime traditions. This is especially important for children, who will soon have to choose their future profession. The organizers of the “My port” project tried their best to make the participants enjoy the sea, hoping that in the future those kids will choose to link their lives with the sea.
