The Mir and the Nadezhda receive new cadets on their board

The Mir sailing ship received cadets of Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping on its board at the seaport of Big Port St Petersburg on June 17, 2018. A total of 132 students will undergo training aboard the frigate till September 11. Eleven sea cadets of the St Petersburg City Palace of Youth Creativity Naval Club have gotten an opportunity to sharpen their skills.

Over three months, the young sailors will be training navigation and pilot’s practice, naval architecture and studying the operation of seaborne machinery and many other things. In addition, they will be able to learn all problems of the ship’s rigging and acquire practical skills to manage the ship.

Besides, the guys will have a unique possibility to defend the sailing ship’s honor while taking part in The Tall Ships Races 2018. The cadets will have to show their knowledge and skills and to demonstrate their skills to work in a team.

Earlier, another sailing ship of FSUE “Rosmorport”, the Nadezhda, opened its board for 116 cadets of Admiral Nevelskoy Maritime State University and five children of the Moscow Center for Patriotic Education and School Sport.

While forming an educational program on the FSUE “Rosmorport” sailing ships special attention is paid to participation in international events so that cadets shall acquire the skills necessary for future sailors and broaden their mind. Navigation training helps increase the quality of personnel training for the fleet and related industries that is the key resource for the development of the country’s transport system. Trainings are aimed at educating the youth in the spirit of intercultural knowledge and interethnic tolerance.
