FSUE “Rosmorport” and the Zvezda shipyard signed an engineering contract to build the unique light-draught icebreaker with draft of about three meters and the capacity of 6.4 MWp at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum on May 24, 2018.

The icebreaker will be used to provide support for vessels in Russian seaports and on the approaches toward them, as well as to meet the needs of sea terminals, operated by NK Rosneft.

The vessel will be built under supervision of the Russian Registry of Shipping, and will operate under the flag of the Russian Federation. The prototype of the series of four light-draught icebreakers is to be constructed by the end of 2021.

The contract is signed in furtherance of the agreement concluded in September 2017 as part of the Eastern Economic Forum.
