The Mir sailing ship marks Victory Day!

On May 9, 2018 the Mir sailing ship marked Victory Day in Hamburg (Germany). This day the festive events devoted to the 73rd anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War have been held aboard the ship.

At 08:00 am the parade of crewmembers and cadets was held on the frigate’s deck. The participants in the solemn event greeted the Victory Banner. The sailing ship’s master, Andrey Orlov, congratulated his colleagues, cadets and guest of the frigate with the great holiday. In his speech he stressed the significance of the feat of the Soviet people and reminded them of the value that they had to pay for the victory and peaceful skills. Cadets undergoing training on the ship organized a concert. Poems and songs of military years were performed by the guests.

In the evening crewmembers and cadets took part in the Immortal Regiment action that had been held in Hamburg downtown. Future generations of the participants in the Great Patriotic War walked along the city’s major cities with the portraits of their relatives. Thus, they paid tribute to the memory of their forefathers, who had gotten the victory over Nazism.
