On April 24, 2018 the FSUE “Rosmorport” icebreakers - the Kapitan Chadaev and the Kapitan Yevdokimov started preventive flood protection works in the Arkhangelsk region.

The enterprise’s fleet carries out the works on destruction and moving of ice in dangerous congestion areas in the Nikolskya arm of Severnaya Dvina River and the Maimaksa canal.

These works are carried out before the ice motion begins in the estuary and the upstream of the Severnaya Dvina River that is predicted to start of May according to the forecast of FSBI “The Northern Department for Hydrometeorology and the Environmental Monitoring”. The works will considerably decrease the congestion threat and reduce a flooding risk for adjacent territories due to rising of the water level.
