FSUE «Rosmorport» and the port of Hamburg determine the vector of cooperation

FSUE “Rosmorport” Deputy Director-General for Economics and Finance Ya.V. Bykov held a working meeting with representatives of the major German port, Hamburg, in Moscow on April 19, 2018. The German delegation was led by Dr. Torsten Sevecke, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy, Transport and Innovation of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.

The meeting involved Deputy Director for Economics and Finance of the FSUE “Rosmorport” North-Western Basin Branch N.E. Kalashnik, head of the Investment and Strategic Development Department of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Central Office A.N. Boldorev, representatives of the central office and the enterprise’s branches.

In his greetings message Ya.V. Bykov said that the year 2018 was the jubilee year not only for FSUE “Rosmorport”, which marked its 15th anniversary, but also for the port of Hamburg. Fifty years ago the first container carrier arrived in Hamburg that laid the foundation for container service in the port.

The state and prospects for the development of Russian seaports and the dynamics of freight turnover was one of the priorities of the meeting.

The German delegation riveted more attention to the development of the Northern Sea Route, navigation specifics in the Arctic Region, the requirements imposed on vessels used in the water area of the Northern Sea Route and services for icebreaker support that have been rendered by FSUE “Rosmorport”.

The deputy director-general for economics and finance stressed that in 2017 the seaport of Sabetta absolutely ranked first for the growth of cargo turnover among Russian seaports. Cargo transshipment in the Yamal seaport increased by 280.7% as compared with the year 2016 and amounted to 7.987 million tons.

The parties discussed prospects for the development of Russian ports in the Baltic. Special attention was paid to FSUE “Rosmorport” projects to build an international sea terminal for accepting cruise and cargo passenger ships in Pionersky and reconstruct a container terminal in Baltiysk, the Kaliningrad region. The projects are aimed at carrying out strategic priorities to redirect cargoes to Russian terminals from the Baltic countries.

FSUE “Rosmorport” and the port of Hamburg maintain old partnership to exchange experience on managing the port activities, cruise navigation, projecting and operating sea terminals.

Every year the FSUE “Rosmorport” Mir sailing ship takes part in the Birthday celebrations of the port of Hamburg. In May all residents and the guests of the city will have the unique opportunity to come aboard the vessel, stand abaft the wheel and study cadets’ life on the ship.

The participants in the meeting noted big significance of the meeting and information exchange to strategic cooperation between the ports. The problems in the sphere of the port activities and logistics play an important role in bilateral economic relations between Russia and Germany.
