The training practice on board of the frigate Khersones commenced on April 3, 2018. The first shift of cadets from various educational institutes of navigation 2018 lined at the wharf of the hero city of Sevastopol for the welcoming ceremony.

The master of the ship Dmitry Teslenko made a welcoming speech to the participants of the ceremony. He noted that “training practice on board of the sailboat belonging to the FSUE “Rosmorport” has been carefully formed in full accordance with international and national requirements for training crew members of vessels.” Teslenko also expressed hope that the students will not only get an unforgettable experience, but also will return home as matured people and strong professionals of their area of expertise.

The official representatives of FSUE “Rosmorport” and maritime educational institutions also attended the venue to show their support to the young seamen.

The young men will have to undergo a two-month educational practice in the Black Sea on this legendary frigate. 107 students coming from the State Maritime University of Admiral F.F. Ushakov and Volga State University of Water Transport will be able to hone their theoretical knowledge and improve practical skills at sea.

During the practice students will obtain needed professional experience and qualification required for further work in the field. They will also be given courses of lectures in the areas such as navigation, technical means of navigation, as well as theory of ship construction. In addition, the trainees will be studying the main structural elements of the vessel, international and national documents on safety of navigation at sea and much more.
