FSUE “Rosmorport” General Director takes part in final expanded session of Russia’s Transport Ministry Collegium

FSUE “Rosmorport” General Director Andrei Lavrishchev and his deputies took part in a final expanded session of Russia’s Transport Ministry Collegium on March 28, 2018.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich and presidential aide Igor Levitin addressed the audience.

The session involved representatives of the Russian president’s administration and the Russian government, members of the Federation Council and deputies of the Russian State Duma of Russia’s parliament, representatives of the Russian Audit Chamber, federal and regional executive authorities, heads of enterprises and organizations of the transport industry.

During the session, Russian Transport Minister Maksim Sokolov gave a report “On the Results of the Activities of Russia’s Transport Ministry in 2017, the tasks and goals of 2018 and the planning period till 2020”.

The minister said the 2017 activities of Russia’s Transport Ministry was aimed at meeting the needs of the population and economic sectors in transport services and increasing their competitiveness. The ministry priorities were accessibility, quality, the stable and safe functioning of the transport sector.

In 2017 cargo transshipment in the country’s seaports increased by 8.9% as compared with 2016 and made up 786.4 million tons. Over the reporting period FSUE “Rosmorport” implemented a series of investment projects that led to increasing Russian seaports’ production capacity by 22 million tons. In 2017 the enterprise continued works on building the facilities of the seaport of Sabetta: the construction of the South Eastern ice protection facility root of 2.800 m in length and coastal facilities was completed. In December the first shipment of liquefied natural gas and gas condensate was made on the Christophe de Margerie icebreaking LNG carrier in the seaport of Sabetta from the terminal of OJSC “Yamal LNG”. The volume of transportation in the water area of the Northern Sea Route was 9.932 tons (plus 32.8% to the level of 2016), including the volume of transit transportation of 194.4 tons. The operations started to develop working documentation and build an international sea terminal to accept cruise and cargo passenger vessels in Pionersky. The works were completed to elaborate design documentation to build a complex of the coast and sea infrastructure in the seaport of Gelendzhik.

The participants in the session discussed the implementation of legislative drafting activities of Russia’s Transport Ministry in 2017. Over the reporting period eight draft laws on maritime and river transport were passed.

During the session, the participants determined the priorities and tasks in 2018. One of the strategic areas of Russia’s Transport Ministry activity will be aimed at developing the transport infrastructure, which stimulates the economic growth and increases competitiveness of domestic goods and services. Moreover, among the key goals of the enterprise in 2018 are to improve efficiency and safety of the transport sector. Among the key tasks in maritime transport are to increase the capacity of Russian seaports that will facilitate the growth of production capacity of Russian seaports in the amount of 28 million tons.
