Russian transport minister visits Onezshky Shipbuilding and Ship-Repairing Plant

Russian Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov and head of the Republic of Karelia Artur Parfenchikov visited the Onezhsky Shipbuilding and Ship-Repairing Plant in Petrozavodsk on March 16, 2018.

During the visit, the officials met the plant’s director, Vladimir Maizus, to discuss prospects for modernizing the plant within the implementation of the digital shipyard concept worked out by St Petersburg State Marine Technical University.

The special guests met with workers of the plant, inspected the plant’s shops and studied plans aimed at building an extra bay to the existing block of the plant’s hull shops. Sokolov also assessed the capacity of the Onezhsky Shipbuilding and Ship-Repairing Plant and inspected the assembly of the   TSDH-2000 Yuri Maslyukov dredger. The minister took part in a solemn ceremony of laying the dredger in November 2017.
