FSUE «Rosmorport» takes part in the International Arctic Summit “The Arctic Region and Shelf Projects: Prospects, Innovation and the Development of Regions”

The International Arctic Summit “The Arctic Region and Shelf Projects: Prospects, Innovation and the Development of Regions” was held in St Petersburg on February 15-16, 2018.

The summit involved representatives of federal and regional structures, leading Russian and foreign oil-and-gas, and energy companies, transport, financial, scientific and service organizations, and directors of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Arkhangelsk and Murmansk branches.

The participants in the summit discussed the comprehensive development of Russia’s Arctic, shelf projects of the Arctic area, their legislative framework and other issues.

On February 16 chief of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Directorate for the Fleet Development and the Construction Vladimir Shtrambrand took part in the summit’s program “The Northern Sea Route: Transport Logistic Complexes and Shipbuilding”.

He spoke about the icebreaker fleet of FSUE “Rosmorport” and vessels due to be built. Vladimir Shrambrand paid attention to successful experience of the operation of the Moskva and the St Petersburg diesel electric icebreakers of Project 21900M built under the enterprise’s order. This positive experience lays the foundation for a resolution taken by the Russian government to build series of three icebreakers of such project. FSUE “Rosmorport” specialists and specialists of leading design bureaus maintain cooperation to work out an advanced project of an icebreaker of Project 21900M. Thus, under the federal target program “Russia’s Transport System (2010-2020)” FSUE “Rosmoprort” has built three modern icebreakers – the Vladivostok, the Murmansk and the Novorossiysk. The icebreakers’ key particulars allow for using them on Arctic routes. At present, the icebreakers successfully work at the seaports of Murmansk, Primorsk and Ust Luga. They are mainly designed for independent pilotage of superlarge vessels, towing, aid to vessels and transshipment of cargoes.

Moreover, information on innovation solutions, which are being implemented in the construction of icebreakers of new projects, including an icebreaker of Project 22600 (the Viktor Chernomyrdin icebreaker, which is being built at shipyards of the United Shipbuilding Corporation), has been presented.

In conclusion Vladimir Shtramband stressed that construction of the fleet and its maintenance is the priority task for FSUE “Rosmorport”. The construction and putting into operation of new vessels is aimed at resolving key issues related to the maintaining operation of Russian seaports.
