FSUE “Rosmorport” carries out environmental activities

Environmental friendliness is one of the priorities of FSUE “Rosmorport”. The enterprise carries out economic activities in full compliance with international norms and the Russian law on the environmental protection.

FSUE “Rosmoport” maintains international environmental cooperation within the activities of the Marine Environment Protection Committee of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), sessions of expert and working groups of regional conventions: the Helsinki Convention on the Protection of the Maritime Environment of the Baltic Sea Area, the Convention on the Protection of the Black Sea Against Pollution (the Bucharest Convention), the Framework Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Caspian Sea (the Tehran Convention), the Action Plan for the Protection, Management and Development of the Marine and Coastal Environment of the Northwest Pacific Region.

In order to reduce the negative impact on the environment in the seaports of the country the enterprise introduces technological innovations aimed at reducing emissions of hazardous substances into the atmosphere. The FSUE “Rosmorport” branches realize energy efficiency and energy performance programs, expands directions of its activities by providing environmental services for vessels to collect shipboard wastes, conducts operations to compensate damage to water bio resources.

The enterprise has the right to carry out the activities to process more than 300 categories of wastes that will allow it to render the comprehensive data of qualitative services to vessels. The license has been issued to carry out the activities for the collection, transportation, processing, disposal of, deactivation and placement of waste Class I-IV. Every year FSUE “Rosmorport” renders services for waste collection to about 12.000 vessels by collecting over 3.500 cubic meters of utility waste, 9.000 tons of oily water effluents and 5.000 tons of water effluents.

In order to take measures on eliminating the consequences of the negative impact on water bio resources and environmental conditions in 2015-2017 FSUE “Rosmorport” spent over 41.8 million Rubles in 2015-2017 for artificial reproduction and release of over 23.4 million samples of young fishes.

Considerable measures to compensate damage to water bio resources are taken when FSUE “Rosmorport” carries out major federal projects. While constructing the seaport of Sabetta in 2017 about 215 million samples of peled and 2.6 million samples of Siberian sturgeon on the total amount of over 600 million Rubles were released.
