New self-propelled barge put afloat at Onezsky Shipbuilding and Ship-Repairing Plant

The Silnaya self-propelled hopper with the capacity of 600 cubic meters was put afloat at the Onego shipyard in Petrozavodsk on December 15, 2017.

The vessel has been built under the order of FSUE “Rosmorport”. It is designed for transporting bottom soil during dredging operations.

While developing a project of the barge the research and development, design and experimental work “Researching Modular Approach Toward Marine and Dredging Equipment with the Propulsion Unit in a Container During the Construction of Self-Propelled Barges” has been carried out. The use of this method has made it possible to reduce charges and ease the installation of additional machinery. This decision will also simplify service and repair of marine equipment during the operation of the barge further on.

After the barge is launched its building will be finished afloat and the commissioning works will be conducted.

The barge is expected to be given to the customer in June 2018.

The Silnaya is the second barge out of three vessels of HB 600 Project that are being built at the Onego shipyard for the use of FSUE “Rosmorport”.
