New hopper dredger to be built at Onego Shipyard

The TSDH-2000 Yuri Maslyukov trailing hopper dredger was founded at the Onego Shipyard in Petrozadovsk on November 17, 2017.

The solemn ceremony involved Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev, Russian Transport Minister Maksim Sokolov, Head of the Republic of Karelia Artur Parfenchikov, Russian Industry and Trade Deputy Minister Georgy Kalamanov, FSUE “Rosmorport” Deputy General Director for Economics and Finance Yakov Bykov and employees of the enterprise’s central office, Director of LLC “Onego Shipyard” and other officials.

Maksim Sokolov congratulated the audience on the remarkable event and spoke about prospects for the development of LLC “Onego Shipyard”. The minister expressed confidence that the use of advanced production technology and competences as well as the advantageous geographical location, will allow the shipyard to compete for the market of inland vessels in the river basins of Neva River, Volga River, Kama River, Moscow River, and Onega Lake and Ladoga Lake.

The minister stressed that the volume of orders carried out at the Onego Shipyard had increased. In 2016-2017 nine vessels of the auxiliary fleet were built at the plant and given to FSUE “Rosmorport”. In 2018 another four vessels will be commissioned. Maksim Sokolov wished the personnel of the Onego Shipyard further successful development for the sake of Russia’s shipbuilding.

The construction of the new hopper dredger is a serious contribution to the development of the Northern Sea Route and the Arctic region. The Yuri Maslyukov will be able to operate in rough weather conditions; as a result, the depth necessary for safe navigation will be ensured in many Arctic seaports.

The TSDH-2000 Yuri Maslyukov trailing hopper dredger responds to the up-to-date requirements in the sphere of designing and construction of vessels. The hopper dredger is capable of operating at a temperature range between -35 degrees Celsius and +40 degrees Celsius. The Yuri Maslyukov will be outfitted with all the necessary high-production dredging equipment, which will allow to carry out dredging operations in restricted zones at piers and berths.

FSUE “Rosmorport” is planning to use the dredging vessel in order to support ordered navigational depths and ensure navigation safety in the water area and on the approaches toward the seaport of Arkhangelsk, as well as to carry out repair dredging operations in the seaport of Sabetta.
