FSUE “Rosmorport” General Director makes working visit to Dagestan

FSUE “Rosmorport” General Director Andrey Lavrishchev made a working visit to the Republic of Dagestan on November 15, 2017.

During the visit, the FSUE “Rosmorport” General Director took part in an interdepartmental meeting on the issues of modernization of the port infrastructure in the Caspian Sea, which has been attended by the Russian Minister for North Caucasus Affairs Lev Kuznetsov, acting head of the Republic of Dagestan Vladimir Vasilyev, acting premier of the Republic of Dagestan Abdusamad Gamidov, Russian Deputy Transport Minister – Head of Rosmorrechflot Viktor Olersky.

The participants in the meeting visited JSC “Makhachkala Commercial Seaport” to study the work of the enterprise and assess prospects for development of the grain terminal, the dry cargo harbor and the oil harbor of JSC “Makhachkala Commercial Seaport”. It is worth noting that the seaport of Makhachkala is not only the sole non-freezing seaport in Russia’s Caspian region but also the country’s key transport terminal of oil, oil products and dry cargoes transportation on the Caspian route.

On the same day an expanded working meeting has been held at the House of Government in Makhachkala. The meeting focused on the implementation of the Strategy on the Development of Russian Seaports in the Caspian Basin that was approved by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on November 11, 2017. The priorities of the Strategy are to strengthen Russia’s economic and geopolitical presence on the Caspian Sea, to expand economic and cultural relations with the Caspian Basin countries and create conditions for developing this region through increasing international trade turnover.
