On the eve of National Unity Day an international educational event, “Big Ethnographic Quiz”, was held one of the FSUE “Rosmorport” icebreakers in the seaport of Murmansk on November 3, 2017. This year the event has involved the captain and the crewmembers of the Vladivostok and Kapitan Dranitsyn icebreakers, as well as employees of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Murmansk Branch.

The participants in the quiz answered 30 test questions on the number of ethnic groups in Russia, their cultural and characteristic linguistic properties, national traditions that had become the weal of the whole people.

The purpose of the action is to form the participants’ willingness to study their roots, their ancestors’ traditions and learn more about those who live nearby. Knowledge of the history is one of the priorities for mutual respect and accord between the peoples of different nationalities.

This year the Big Ethnographic Quiz has been granted international status. The action took place in the CIS countries and in every Russian region.

The Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs organized the event. The results of the quiz will be summed up on December 12, 2017.
