Meeting on organizing pilotage and VTMS services in Kerch Strait

A working meeting was held at the seaport of Kavkaz on October 12, 2017. The meeting chaired by FSUE “Rosmorport” Deputy Director-General for Navigation Safety Viktor Vanyukov focused on improving pilotage in the Kerch Strait.

The meeting was held on the threshold of opening navigation in the Kerch Yenikal Canal the movement on which had been restricted due to the maritime operation for installing a vehicle arch of the Crimean Bridge.

The meeting involved acting captain of the seaport of Kavkaz Sergei Naumov, acting captain of the seaport of Kerch Stanislav Belykh, officials of the central office, the FSUE “Rosmorport” Azovo-Chernomorsky Basin Branch and the Crimea Basin Branch.

The participants in the meeting discussed ways to improve pilotage management and VTMS services in the Kerch Strait, as well as priority events for organizing pilotage after installing the bridge's vehicle arch and resuming navigation.

During the meeting, the participants specified interaction between the branches' pilotage services, VTMS and the services of ports' captains in order to minimize ship demurrage while expecting pilotage on the Kerch Yenikal Canal connecting the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.
