The celebrations will be held in St Petersburg on September 29, 2017 to mark the jubilee of the Mir sailing ship. One of the fastest ship marks its 30th anniversary at home, at the port of registry. The Mir is the symbol of the city and proudly bears this title through seas and oceans.

The solemn events will involve members of the Government of St Petersburg, representatives of Rosmorrechflot, FSUE “Rosmorport”, leaders of maritime enterprises and major maritime educational institutions.

The performance of the orchestra and cadets of maritime higher education establishments, and excursions on the ship are included in the program of the jubilee. The guests will be able to attend a photo exhibition devoted to the legendary ship.

Throughout this year the Mir has succeeded in visiting nine countries and 16 seaports, taking part in colorful festivals and prestigious regattas.

During the jubilee navigation season, cadets of Admiral S.O. Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping have ended training on the ship. Thousands of passed nautical miles allowed children to take power of endurance and firmness, gain experience and master to work with the sails.

FSUE “Rosmorport” takes an active part in professional training of specialists of maritime affairs. It is difficult to overestimate the significance of this topic. Navigation safety and sustainable consumption of natural resources are based on maritime education and training of future sailors. Sailors should be trained, have sufficient experience, skills and qualification, and can perform their duties.
