Solemn Ceremony of Letting Into Sailor Boys Held on Khersones Sailing Ship

A solemn ceremony of letting pupils of General Secondary School No 7 into a sailor boys was held aboard the Khersones sailing ship in Yalta on September 16, 2017.

Representatives of teaching staff of the Municipal Budgetary Institution of Extended Education “Children’s Maritime Center”, the Municipal Budgetary Education Institution “Yalta School No 7” and parents supported the future sailors.

During the ceremony, a solemn parade took place. The captain of the Khersones sailing ship, Dmitry Teslenko, and the director of the Municipal Budgetary Institution of Extended Education “Children’s Maritime Center”, Olga Yakovleva, gave certificates of seaman boys to the future sailors and wished them good health and academic achievements.

Dmitry Teslenko congratulated children on this remarkable event and expressed the hope that love of sea would be transformed into a future profession. He also noted that children kept the best maritime traditions.

Upon completion of the ceremony cadets of the Khersones ship conducted an excursion of the ship for their successors and showed how to boom the sails and jib sails on the foremast. A song sung by new seaman boys was an excellent present for everybody.

As part of cooperation between the Children’s Maritime Center and general educational institutions a program in the field of maritime affairs is realized in Yalta: as of today two maritime groups have emerged in the city.

The idea of their creation has been conditioned by the location of Yalta on the Black Sea coast, by the need to promote maritime professions and up-to-date social and economic changes. Apart from general education, the children are brought up in the spirit of patriotism and good morals, and they also study maritime disciplines.
