FSUE “Rosmorport” and “Rosneft” Negotiation about the Icebreaker Order Placement on the “Zvezda” Shipbuilding Complex”

FSUE “Rosmorport”, PJSC “Rosneft” and LLC “Zvezda” Shipbuilding Complex” signed a Partnership Agreement on placement of orders for the construction of unique icebreakers with the draft of 3 meters and capacity of 6,4MW as well as the auxiliary fleet vessels of the ice class.

In accordance with the Agreement FSUE “Rosmorport” will place an order in the “Zvezda” complex for the construction of one shallow-draft icebreaker with an option of three more.

The icebreakers will be used for the organization of vessels' pilotage in the seaports of the Russian Federation and on approaches to them as well as for the needs of sea terminals operated by the “NK “Rosneft”.

As a result of the execution of the Agreement the shipbuilding complex will widen the process line and gain  additional experience in the construction of icebreakers and vessels of ice class.

The signing participants confirmed their mutual interest in the development of partnership in the field of shipbuilding, vessels' operation and implementation of innovative solutions during the execution of joint projects.        

FSUE “Rosmorport” long-term order for icebreaker design and construction will allow to reduce construction costs as a result of seriality of orders.

The Zvezda shipbuilding complex is being created by the consortium of JSC Rosneftegaz, PJSC Rosneft Oil Company and JSC Gazprombank on the base of the Far Eastern Zvezda shipyard. The project envisions the construction of heavy fitting-out building ways, a drydock, full-cycle production shops, as well as shops to build offshore maritime facilities.

The Zvezda shipbuilding complex will produce large-capacity vessels, elements for sea platforms, ice class vessels, special vessels and other types of maritime facilities.

FSUE “Rosmorport” is an institution created on the decision of the Russian government in 2003 in order to contribute to developing the transport infrastructure, realizing transit potential and increasing competitiveness of Russian seaports. FSUE “Rosmorport” carries out economic activities in 65 out of 67 Russian seaports. The priorities are to ensure navigation safety in the water areas of seaports and on the approaches toward them, to effectively use federal property and develop the port infrastructure. In addition, the institution attracts private investments to developing the infrastructure of Russian seaports.
