FSUE "Rosmorport" participates in the business program of the Eastern Economic Forum

A plenary meeting "Far East: creating a new reality" was held in the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) on 7 September 2017. The session was addressed by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

The head of state noted that the development of the Far East is an integral part of measures to improve Russia's competitiveness. It is planned to lay new transport corridors in the region and increase port capacities. To implement these projects, Vladimir Putin presented a plan to attract investors. He explained that the possible construction of a railway crossing to Sakhalin Island, the development of the Northern Sea Route, the modernization of the Baikal-Amur Mainline and the Trans-Siberian Railway, and a number of other projects will make it possible "to turn the Russian Far East into one of the most important logistic hubs in the world". The meeting was attended by the leaders of the states of the Republic of Korea, Mongolia and Japan.

The plenary session was attended by representatives of the government, business structures, and major international and Russian companies. General Director of FSUE "Rosmorport" Andrey Tarasenko also took part in the events of the second day of the forum.

Within the framework of the business session of the WEF "Seaports - into Effective Hands", the participants discussed the development plans for the largest seaports of the Far East, investment attractiveness of the region and specifics of customs clearance of goods.

Deputy Head of Rosmorrechflot Nadezhda Zhikhareva, the representatives of government bodies and heads of the largest companies of the industry spoke on the prospects of port infrastructure development.

The EEF site is an excellent opportunity to build a constructive dialogue on business issues in the territories of advanced development and in the free port of Vladivostok. The EEF is held annually from 2015. Over the past three years, the forum has become a unique platform for discussing the projects related to infrastructure development in the Far East.
