Meeting on development of transport infrastructure in southern Russia

On August 24 Russian presidential aide Igor Levitin chaired a meeting on the development of the transport infrastructure in southern Russia. The meeting was held in Sevastopol.

The meeting involved Russian Deputy Transport Minister, head of the Federal Agency for Sea and Inland Water Transport Viktor  Olersky, Sevastopol Acting Governor Dmitry Ovsyannikov, FSUE “Rosmorport” General Director Andrey Tarasenko, representatives of executive authorities and power-wielding agencies.

The participants in the meeting discussed a concept on the development of Bakaklava Bay, which is considered one of the most attractive sites on the peninsula.

The Balaklava Bay can develop as an international yacht marina and a comfortable living area. According to the Russian presidential aide, by realizing the project it is important to keep the existing facilities of cultural heritage and develop beach areas.

The concept on the development of the Balaklava Bay as an international tourism center is being worked out within the instruction of the Russian president. It is based on the creation of yacht marina for mooring of 650 vessels with full yacht service, recreational zones of the embankment and adjacent territories. The project also includes the reconstructions of berths, engineering systems, purification of the Bay’s bottom. The formation of the project “The construction of hydraulic constructions for yacht marina”, is being developed within the Federal Targeted Program, “The Social and Economic Development of the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol till 2020”.

On the same day Viktor Olersky and Andrey Tarasenko have visited the Khersones sailing ship which is under the supervision of FSUE “Rosmorport”. They’ve had an informal talk with the crew members and cadets undergoing training on the ship. The students shared their vivid impressions on maritime voyages aboard the legendary sailing ship and on the participation in interesting sportive and festive events on the ship and in the cities of the Black Sea. In honor of Viktor Olersky’s visit the Rosmorrechflot flag has been hoisted.
