On 10 April 2015 the sailing training ship (STS) Nadezhda will leave Vladivostok seaport for Port of Nagasaki (Japan) to take part in the International Tall Ships Festival.

The FSUE “Rosmorport” tall ships are always welcome at such events making their contribution to the development of international relations and promotion of research works.

STS Nadezhda is one of the largest frigates in the world with the tonnage of almost 3,000 tons, the length with bowsprit of 110 metres and the height of the main mast of up to 60 metres. The vessel has 26 sails with the total area of almost 3 thousand square metres, which allows to speed up to 18 knots (33 km/h). Apart from being beautiful, the ship can withstand the waves. Two engines with the power of 468 kWt each enable the stability of the vessel making it possible to sail in calm weather and maneuver in port.

Students of marine institutes have sailing practice on board of STS Nadezhda. At present 92 cadets of the Marine State University named after G.I. Nevelsky are practicing on board of the vessel. During the month the team studied ship handling in the open sea and is now taking a long voyage.

During the festival the sailing ship will not only be open for visitor but also will host different international workshops, and will take part in the festive closing fireworks overnight into 26 April.

After that the sailing ship will call at Port of Yeosu (South Korea) to meet the management and students of the Korean Marine Oceanological University and Korean Marine Institute.
