Tours of Kapitan Khlebnikov Icebreaker

The Far Eastern Basin Branch has organized several excursions for children and students on the Kapitan Khlebnikov icebreaker, which is currently at the seaport of Vladivostok.

On May 20, 2019 the vessel was attended by 3rd year students of the department of marine technology of Admiral Nevelskoy Maritime State University. The icebreaker’s second engineer, Andrei Rodionov, conducted an educational tour of the icebreaker’s engine room. He spoke about mechanisms’ arrangement, the operation of the main engine and auxiliary machinery, the propulsion generator, electric propulsion motors. He also answered all the questions asked by the students.

Little educatees of the Children’s Activity Center of the Frunzensky District of Vladivostok attended the icebreaker on May 22, 2019. Children visited the plot room, the central station and the navigation bridge. They also had an opportunity to visit the helicopter landing site. Household staff Yuri Kubantsev told the children about the operation of the icebreaker on the ice, expeditions in the Arctic Region and the Antarctic, and about the most memorable events of the crew’s life during hard voyages. Young guests of the icebreaker watched a documentary about the crew’s everyday work. The film was produced during the expedition to the Antarctic in 2018.
