Coastal stations of GMDSS Sea Area A1 and Sea Area A2 undergo regular survey

Based on the results of the survey performed by Rosmorrechflot FSUE “Rosmorport” has received Certificate No GMDSS-3/1-2994-2017 of February 09, 2017 and Certificate No GMDSS-3/1-2991-2017 of February 09, 2017. These are the certificates of compliance of coastal facilities of GMDSS Sea Area A1 Vladivostok Coastal Station and GMDSS Sea Area A2 Vladivostok Coastal Station with the requirements of Russian Transport Ministry Order No 226 of July 23, 2015.

Earlier, in 2012, the Vladivostok coastal stations of Sea Area A1 and Sea Area A2 successfully underwent the survey on their compliance with the existing requirements imposed upon the work of this equipment within the system of GMDSS.

Both coastal stations were put into operation in December 1999.

The Vladivostok coastal station of GMDSS Sea Area A1 consists of the communications control center, which is located in Vladivostok, and the base radio stations “Vladivostok”, “Nakhodka” and “Tumannya Mountain” on the Gorsovetskaya mountain(Vladivostok), the radar post in Nakhodka and the Tumannaya mountain (Zarubino settlement of Khanansky District).

The Vladivostok coastal station of GMDSS Sea Area A1 consists of the communications control center, which is located in Vladivostok, the radio receiving set on Cape Kamensky and the transmitting set on Cape Povorotnyi.

The effective range of the Sea Area A1 coastal station radio station is:
- 55 nautical miles for the base radio station “Vladivostok”;
- 45 nautical miles for the base radio station “Nakhodka”;
- 70 nautical miles for the base radio station “Tumannaya Mountain”.

The effective range of the Sea Area A2 coastal station radio station makes up 150 nautical miles.

The GMDSS Sea Area A1 and Sea Area A2 Vladivostok coastal stations allow for:
- keeping uninterrupted radio watch and performing radio exchange in a range of very high frequencies (for Sea Area A1) and medium waves (for Sea Area A2) of the mobile marine service, maintaining a permanent opportunity to receive distress messages by using the digital selective call and stable contacts with vessels in the mode of radio telephony;
- maintaining operational communication between vessels and the maritime rescue coordination center of FSBI “The Administration of Seaports of Primorye Territory and Eastern Arctic” in the Peter the Great Bay to organize rescue operations;
- carrying out procedures for automatic processing of calls of distress, urgency and security with the use of digital selective calling technology to maintain contacts with vessels at sea within the area the boundary of which is defined pursuant to the criteria set by the International Maritime Organization for coastal radio stations of GMDSS Sea Area A1 and Sea Area A2 and to ensure security.
