Information on the seaport of Ust-Luga in the Register of Seaports of the Russian Federation amended

By Rosmorrechflot Order dated 04.09.2023 No. BT-343-r the information on the seaport of Ust-Luga in the Register of Seaports of the Russian Federation has been amended.

The adjustments concern the inclusion of five berths in the list of berths of the Ust-Luga seaport: berths No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 of the Ust-Luga marine universal trading terminal.

Berths No. 1 and No. 2 of the marine terminal were completed in May-June 2023. The documents are currently being drawn up for their commissioning. Berths No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 are still under construction.

At berths No. 1 and No. 2, it is planned to serve vessels up to 260 m long, 43 m wide and 15 m draught in cargo for transshipment of bulk cargo with a design capacity of 8 million tons. The design capacity of all 5 berths after their commissioning will be 24.3 million tons.

From July 2021 to the present, as part of a Comprehensive plan for modernization and expansion of the main infrastructure for the period up to 2024, the FSUE “Rosmorport” North-Western Basin Branch is carrying out dredging works on the construction project of a navigable water area and navigation equipment of the universal trading terminal “Ust-Luga” in order to ensure the safe approach of vessels of appropriate sizes to the berths of this marine terminal. Due to the increase in the number of berths in the seaport of Ust-Luga to 46 units, the total length of the berthing wall in the seaport of Ust-Luga has also increased and currently is almost 9.7 km.

The Rosmorrechflot Order simultaneously adjusted the main technical characteristics of the seaport, in particular, the capacity of cargo terminals, both in connection with the increase in the number of berths and with the installation of new transshipment equipment at the berths of other sea terminals.

In addition, the amendments expanded the list of operators of marine terminals operating in the seaport of Ust-Luga and also clarified their individual names.

The FSUE “Rosmorport” North-Western Basin Branch has 4 berths in the seaport of Ust-Luga, which is 8.7 % of their total number. The length of the berthing wall of the enterprise's berths is 9.8 % of the total length of the berthing wall in the seaport.

Three berths of the branch have been leased to operators of sea terminals in accordance with the established procedure. Ust-Luga Department of the North-Western Basin Branch, with the involvement of a specialized organization, is carrying out transshipment of cargo transported by ferries on the line “Ust-Luga Seaport – Kaliningrad Seaport” at the ferry pier of the Automobile and railway ferry complex. In addition, the Automobile and railway ferry complex ferry pier is provided by the branch for safe mooring for interested organizations.

According to the results of 9 months of 2023, the cargo turnover at the berths of the branch in the seaport of Ust-Luga is 5.4 million tons, which is 6.2 % of the total volume of cargo transshipment in the seaport.
