On September 30, 2023, Alexander Strelnikov, Director of the FSUE “Rosmorport” North-Western Basin Branch, took part in the initiation ceremony for cadets of the Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping which took place on the Palace Square in St. Petersburg.

The solemn event was attended by Sergey Baryshnikov, rector of the Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping, representatives of the Government of St. Petersburg, industry maritime organizations, captains of seaports of the Baltic Sea.

The beginning of the celebration was marked by the introduction of the National Flag of Russia, as well as the flags of St. Petersburg and the university, and the performance of the National Anthem.

323 cadets of the Maritime Academy Institute and 172 students of the Admiral Makarov SUMIS College became new Makarovites on this day.

At noon, after a shot was fired from a cannon at the Naryshkin Bastion, the cadets were greeted by the university administration and teachers, honored guests and loved ones.

Sergey Baryshnikov congratulated the cadets on joining the university and noted that “each achievement of a student brings glory to the Makarov University”. The rector instructed the younger generation to keep the good name of the flagship of Russian maritime education and proudly carry the university banner.

Alexander Strelnikov, on behalf of the General Director of FSUE “Rosmorport” and the staff of the North-Western Basin Branch, wished the students seamless integration into the marine teams of the industry.
