North-Western Basin Branch of FSUE “Rosmorport” participates in the II Conference: Ship Repair, Modernization and Components

On September 26, 2023, the II Conference: Ship Repair, Modernization and Components took place in St. Petersburg, attended by Alexander Kazarosyan, Advisor to the Director of the FSUE “Rosmorport” North-Western Basin Branch.

Representatives of shipowners of civil and fishing fleets, management of Russian shipbuilding and ship repair yards, design organizations and suppliers of ship equipment also participated in the conference.

Alexander Kazarosyan made a report “Implementation of the FSUE “Rosmorport” project on making a repair base on the territory of the seaport of Ust-Luga”.

Alexander Kazarosyan spoke about the structure of the branch's fleet, the measures being implemented to modernize, repair and maintain the branch's vessels, considering external sanctions pressure as well.

Alexander Ghazarosyan noted that currently specialists of the enterprise were working on the creation of a register of suppliers with the improvement of logistic chains of spare parts supply, equipment replacement, as well as signing long-term contracts with suppliers of goods and services for all types of standard ship repair works.

In order to solve problematic issues related to the high workload of ship repair sites in Russia and, as a consequence, the existing shortage of dock facilities, the branch is considering options for creating its own ship repair facilities at existing sites.

In particular, the branch proposes to set up a full-fledged ship repair unit at the site of the support fleet base under construction in the seaport of Ust-Luga in several stages, which will help to eliminate most of the problematic issues of current repairs of the branch's vessels.

Creation of a ship repair area in the North-Western Basin Branch including installation of a dock in the water area of the support fleet base will also allow to provide a range of works on types of vessel inspection not only for the branch, but also for vessels of other interested organizations in the region.
