Young Atlantic salmon released to Neva River

The FSUE “Rosmorport” North-Western Basin Branch continues to implement a program of compensatory measures in respect of water biological resources in the area of its economic activity.

The branch performed three releases of Atlantic salmon of over 101,000 samples in total with the average weight of 30 grams to the Neva River with the participation of governmental supervisors on May 25-28, 2020.

Young Atlantic salmon has been produced and released by a fish-breeding farm by the order of the North-Western Basin Branch. The branch spent over 56 million Rubles on these three releases.

The aforementioned measures compensated damage caused to water biological resources during dredging operations related to the construction of the second stage of an operational water area for transshipping complexes in the northern part of the seaport of Ust Luga.

Since the beginning of the year the branch has performed five releases of young fish. In total, Basin Branch over 158,000 samples of young Atlantic salmon and trout have been released to rivers of the Baltic Sea Basin by the order of the North-Western.

Till the yearend the branch is planning to additionally release almost 43,600 samples of young salmon.
