Based on the results of Rosmorrechflot’s inspection FSUE “Rosmorport” has received Certificate No GMDSS-3/1-3004-2017 of January 19, 2017 and Certificate No GMDSS-3/1-3005-2017 of February 09, 2017. These are the certificates of conformity of coastal facilities of the St Petersburg Coastal Station of GMDSS Sea Area A1 and the St Petersburg Coastal Station of GMDSS Sea Area A2 to the requirements of Russia’s Transport Ministry Order No 226 of July 23, 2015.

Earlier, in 2006 and 2012, the coastal stations of Sea Area A1 and Sea Area A2 successfully underwent the examination of their conformity to the existing requirements imposed on the operation of this equipment within the GMDSS system.

Both coastal stations were built and put into operation between 2002 and 2005.

The St Petersburg Coastal Station of GMDSS Sea Area A1 consists of the communication control center located in St Petersburg and the St Petersburg base radio station located in the seaport of Big Port St Petersburg, the Primorsk base radio station located in the seaport of Primorsk, the Vysotsk radio station located in the seaport of Vysotsk and the Gogland base radio station located on Gogland Island, and the Gorki radio station located in the settlement of Gorki.

The St Petersburg Coastal Station of GMDSS Sea Area A2 consists of the communication control center located St Petersburg, the Gorki receiving radio station located in the settlement of Gorki and the Karavaldai transmitting radio station located on Karavaldaisky Peninsula.

The range of the radio station of the coastal station of Sea Area A1 is
- 13 nautical miles at the St Petersburg base radio station;
- 30 nautical miles at the Primorsk base radio station;
- 35 nautical miles at the Vysotsk base radio station;
- 35 nautical miles at the Gorki base radio station;
- 20 nautical miles at the Gogland base radio station.

The range of the Karavaldai radio station of the coastal station of Sea Area A2 is 150 nautical miles.

The coastal stations of St Petersburg Sea Area A 1 and St Petersburg Sea Area A2 perform:
- keeping the uninterrupted radio watch and radio exchange in the range of very high frequencies (for Sea Area A1) and medium waves (for Sea Area A2) of the marine-mobile service, permanently pick up messages of distress by using the digital selective call and maintain stable contacts with vessels in the mode of radio telephony;
- maintaining contacts with vessels and the maritime rescue coordination center of FSBI “The Administration of Seaports of the Baltic Sea” in the Gulf of Finland of the Baltic Sea to organize rescue operations;
- automatically carry out procedures for processing signals of distress, urgency and security by using the digital selective call with vessels at sea within the area the boundary of which has been determined pursuant to the criteria established by the International Maritime Organization for coastal radio stations of Sea Area A1 and Sea Area A2 and to ensure security.
