International Railway Business Forum “Strategic Partnership 1520: Central Europe”

Director of the North-Western Basin Branch Sergei Pylin took part in a session of the International Railway Business Forum “Strategic Partnership 1520: Central Europe” that had been held in Vienna (Austria) on February 20-22, 2018.

A discussion focused on the development of container transit shipments between China and Europe was held within the framework of the forum.

Official representatives of JSC “The United Transport Logistic Company” acting through the company’s CEO Alexei Grom, Kaliningrad Railways – the branch of JSC “Russian Railways” acting through the branch’s head Viktor Golomolzin, the FSUE “Rosmorport” North-Western Basin Branch acting through the Branch’s Director Sergei Pylin and LLC “Baltic Stevedoring Company” acting through the company’s Director-General Sultan Batov signed a memorandum on cooperation in organizing container shipments between China and Europe via the ports of Kaliningrad region.

Under the memorandum, the parties agreed to develop a joint roadmap on technological and commercial aspects of cooperation during the implementation of a project aimed at organizing multi-modal container shipments to Europe from China by railway with the gauge track of 1520 mm. The track will start at Dostyk (Kazakstan) railway station on the Russian-Kazakh state border and Altynkol (Kazakhstan) railway station on the Chinese-Kazakh state border and go to the railway ferry terminal in the seaport of Kaliningrad where cargoes will be loaded on vessels and delivered to German seaports.
