Solemn ceremony takes place to open a new motorway to Ust Luga Seaport

Director of the North-Western Basin Branch Sergey Pylin and Deputy Director of the North-Western Basin Branch, chief of the Ust Luga Directorate Yuri Akhmedov took part in the solemn events on October 31, 2017 to open a new motorway on the 25-km section of the approach to the seaport of Ust Luga from the A-180 federal highway “Narva”.

The solemn ceremony involved Russian Transport Minister Maksim Sokolov and Leningrad Region Governor Aleksandr Drozdenko.

Maksim Sokolov noted that with putting into operation an advance section of the highway the construction of the 52-km section had been completed. Thus, the seaport of Ust Luga and the attached infrastructure are provided with qualitative transport links to federal highways of the Leningrad region. The International North-South Transport Corridor and the Western Europe-Western China Expressway, which links the seaport of Ust Luga with China’s seaport of Lianyungang, begin right here, he said. Early completion of the works on this important section of the federal highway will make it possible to expand the transit and transport logistic potential of our country.

“The construction of a convenient and safe road, which responds to the up-to-date requirements and the needs of the seaport, has been completed. The opening of the new section of the motorway will, on the one hand help to develop motor transportation, and on the other hand create additional possibilities for further development of the infrastructure of the seaport and adjacent settlements,” Leningrad Region Governor Aleksandr Drozdenko said.
