The president and the Russian government set the tasks to ensure transport accessibility of Kaliningrad Region and to develop the seaport infrastructure: these are the construction of three new ferry lines between Ust Luga and Baltiysk, and the implementation of the first stage to build a deep-water port in Kaliningrad Region, the construction of an international sea terminal for  cruise and cargo passengers vessels in Pionersky. An investment project on the development of cargo motor ferry and railway ferry terminals in Baltiysk, including the construction of a container terminal, is realized. Just now the port complex of Kaliningrad Region has handled up to 15% of all import cargoes (following the results of the seven month-long work) of gross share of import cargoes transshipped in all Russian seaports. The simplification of administrative procedures, the implementation of legislative initiatives, which have been submitted to the Russian Federal Assembly in form of a new federal law on Kaliningrad Region will help to create new productions in the region, develop the transportation industry and the port infrastructure.
