9th International Baltic Transport Forum

Deputy Director of the North-Western Basin Branch, Director of the Kaliningrad Directorate Andrey Moshkov has attended the 9th International Baltic Transport Forum, held on September 7-8, 2017 in the Kaliningrad city Business Center "Na Ostrove".

The meeting addressed a wide range of issues related to the future development of the Baltic Transport and logistics complex.

In particular, the Forum participants discussed the organization of transit in the Baltic region, issues of competition in the Baltic transport sector, development prospects of transport infrastructure in that region, certain aspects of seaports and railways interaction, the question of the efficiency of the transportation process improvement, as well as the issues in the area of customs procedures improvement in the Baltic region.

The Forum was attended by the leaders of railway, maritime and automobile transport companies, representatives from stevedoring and cargo companies, as well as officials representing Russian federal and regional authorities and some neighboring countries of the Baltic region.

During the Plenary Session, Andrey Moshkov, made a report on the development of the infrastructure at the Seaport of Kaliningrad. In his speech, he noted the positive growth of trans-shipment volumes and the increased number of vessels docked at the Seaport of Kaliningrad, and also outlined the main areas of port infrastructure development, including the future construction of the International Passenger Terminal at the Seaport of Kaliningrad which will fit for the reception of cruise ships and ferry boats in the Pionersky district.

In the course of his report, Andrey Moshkov specifically stressed the following: "Constant development of the Seaport of Kaliningrad infrastructure, including the implementation of joint investment projects involving FSUE “Rosmorport”, and other efforts of maritime terminal operators and freight forwarders in reorientation of cargo traffic as well as the general change in market conditions have finally stopped the negative trend of the continuously decreasing indicators of cargo trans-shipment in the Seaport of Kaliningrad in recent years".
