Photo-Exhibition “Aristocrats of the Seas”

The Deputy director for Economy and Finance of the North-Western Basin Branch, Nadezhda Kalashnik visited the exhibition “Aristocrats of the Seas” on May 18, after being invited by the organizers.

The exhibition opened at the Central Naval Museum of St. Petersburg in celebration of the World Museum Day and the Day of Baltic Fleet.

The exhibition of photos made by the masters of the Maritime Photographic Association displaying the legendary sailing frigates of the Russian fleet: Krusenstern, Nadezhda, Pallada, Mir, Khersones and Sedov, will be open to visitors until July 2. The photo shoots of the ships have lasted for 20 years.

The organizers of the exhibition noted the enormous contribution of FSUE “Rosmorport” to maintaining maritime traditions, the restoration and development of sailing fleet of the Russian Federation, which is a true maritime power with one of the greatest fleets of large training sailing vessels in the whole world.

The sailing training vessel Mir is considered to be the favorite of the exhibition, bearing in mind that this year will mark the 30th anniversary since the construction of the ship, which will be celebrated this December.

The chief curator of the Central Naval Museum, Natalya Shishkova had read her own poem about the crew of the frigate Mir at the exhibition opening ceremony. Furthermore, the opening ceremony was also attended by the Naval Orchestra, the Russian Navy and “Chanti-chorus of Mir".
