Welcome to the Icebreaker Festival 2016

During May holidays in St. Petersburg from 2 to 3 of May a grand event, which is hosted in our country and nowhere else in the world, will take place for the third time — the Icebreaker Festival.

On April 30, 2016 four icebreakers of the FSUE “Rosmorport” North-Western Basin Branch — Sankt-Peterburg, Kapitan Sorokin, Mudyug and Ivan Kruzenshtern will moor at the Lieutenant Schmidt Embankment and the English Embankment of Saint-Petersburg to meet the guests of the festival.

The grands opening of the festival will take place on May 2 at 12:00. Free access to the vessels will be organized for everybody:
- on the first day of the festival (May 2) from 11 am to 7 pm;
- on the second day of the festival (May 3) from 11 am to 5 pm.

Visitors can get on board of the icebreakers and get acquainted with the unique engineering design of this type of vessels.

All guests of the festival can also enjoy the entertainment program. Near the main stage there will be street exhibitions on the history and modern achievements of the icebreaker fleet, tents with interactive exhibitions and presentations from the industry specific museums and organizations, naval universities and the Arctic regions.

Part of the festival program will be devoted to cinema in honor of the Year of the Russian Cinema. The outdoor cinema at the festival will show documentaries and popular science films about the Arctic exploration, icebreaking fleet, about the Arctic expeditions and their heroes.

The culmination of the festival will be a water technology parade on its closing day on May 3, which will be held with the support of PORTFLEET CJSC. Tugs will perform sea waltz to the accompaniment of a symphony orchestra, creating a spectacular show on water.
