Restrictions on icebreaking navigation in the seaport of Ust-Luga were introduced

Restrictions on icebreaking navigation in the approaching waterways in the seaport of Ust-Luga were introduced by captain of the seaport of Ust-Luga O.A. Glukhov (the order № 01/10 dated 13.01.2010). The restrictions were introduced for purposes of ensuring icebreaking navigation safety in the eastern part of Gulf of Finland according to the instruction for trading ships “Icebreaking Navigation Support to Russian Ports in the Eastern Part of Gulf of Finland” (winter 2009-2010) of Administration of The Greater Port Saint-Petersburg and in line with the long-term forecast on hydro-meteorological and ice conditions.

Starting from 00-00 15.01.2010 to the moment of restrictions cancelling ships without an ice class, ships with power plants capacity less than 2000 h.p. and tugged barge-towboat stocks will not be accepted. In exceptional cases the possibility of icebreaking support to restricted vessels is considered by captain of the seaport of Ust-Luga on providing of the document containing the necessary list of the organizational actions, allowing carrying out safe navigation in ice conditions. Those exceptional cases are: non-operational mode of navigation, emergency and necessity of execution of single operations for delivery of especially important cargo when that delivery can’t be made by non-restricted vessels. Due to correction of the forecast and ice conditions terms of restrictions are subject to change.
