Sea Areas A1 and A2 GMDSS facilities given to the Sakhalin Branch

Based on Resolution No 1347 of October 30, 2017 of the  Russian Federal Agency for State Property Management Territorial Administration in Moscow, a complex of moveable property facilities that composes equipment of Sea Areas A1 and A2 GMDSS, have been assigned to the enterprise. Pursuant to FSUE “Rosmorport” Order No 489 of November 11, 2017 the facilities have been placed under management of the Sakhalin Branch.

The facilities include:
- the GMDSS Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk regional communications control center;
- the Korsakov coastal station of Sea Area 1 GMDSS;
- the Nevelsk coastal station of Sea Area 1 GMDSS;
- the Kholmsk coastal station of Sea Area 1 GMDSS;
- the Svobodny coastal station of Sea Area 1 GMDSS;
- the Nevelsk coastal station of Sea Area 2 GMDSS;
- the Okhotskoye coastal station of Sea Area 2 GMDSS;
- the digital radio relay link for GMDSS.

By using this equipment the Sakhalin Branch performs:
- uninterrupted round-the-clock emergency radio control on VHF and HF in the mode of digital selective call and radio telephony in the established zones of responsibility of the Sakhalin Branch;
- communications between the A1 and A2 GMDSS coastal facilities  and the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk sub-center of FSBI “The Administration of Seaports of Sakhalin, the Kuriles and Kamchatka” and its immediate information on all received disaster calls and emergency messages;
- communications between vessels at sea and the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk sub-center of FSBI “The Administration of Seaports of Sakhalin, the Kuriles and Kamchatka”;
- calls of distress, urgency and security on vessels at sea on VHF and HF in the mode of digital selective call and radio telephony.

The coverage area of Sea Area 1 GMDSS coastal stations is between 31 and 42 nautical miles. The coverage area of Sea Area 2 GMDSS coastal stations is between 165 and 170 nautical miles.

The facilities were built for the period between 1998 and 2005 and used by organizations in the sphere of fishing industry. FSBI “Fisheries Monitoring and Communication Control System” was the last organization that had used the facilities.

The respective equipment was in satisfactory working condition at the time of its transfer to the Branch.
