Operators of Taganrog Gulf VTS prevent emergency in the waters of the seaport of Taganrog

Operators of Taganrog Gulf VTS of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Azovo-Chernomorsky Basin Branch Azov Department have prevented an emergency situation in the water area of the seaport of Taganrog.

On September 19, at 21:30, Alexander Ponomarev, the duty operator of Taganrog Gulf VTS, noticed that the Neman ship (flag of Russia) with a cargo of grain, being in the area of the Beglitsky buoy of the seaport of Taganrog, abruptly changed its course to the right and began approaching dangerously the Penelopa vessel (flag of Russia) with a cargo of gas oil that was heaving alongside, thereby creating a risk of collision.

Alexander Ponomarev, the duty operator of the Taganrog Gulf VTS, and Denis Kramarenko, the shift supervisor, immediately responded to the situation by establishing contact with the vessels captains and giving them recommendations on safe divergence.

Thanks to the timely intervention of the Taganrog Gulf VTS operators, the collision of the vessels was prevented.
