The Kapitan Krutov icebreaker takes part in a rescue operation

The Kapitan Krutov icebreaker of the Eysk Directorate of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Azovo-Chernomorsky Basin Branch took part in a rescue operation on December 3, 2018.

The icebreaker received a message at 2:40 p.m. saying that medical aid should be provided to a crewmember of the Sobrei motor ship located 18 miles northwest of the vessel at anchoring station No. 462.

The captain of the icebreaker, Yevgeny Panyushkin, coordinated his actions with coastal services and commanded to move to the dry cargo ship in order to disembark a severely ill crewmember and transport him to the seaport of Eysk.

The Kapitan Krutov, which is capable of attaining a high rate of sailing, carried the ill crewmember to the seaport of Eysk in under five hours from the beginning of the rescue operation. Then the ill crewmember has been taken to a city hospital to continue medical treatment. At present, the crewmember has been urgently operated and he is off the critical list now.
