Murmansk Branch pilot service carries out operation for ensuring unloading and towing of floating drilling unit in Kola Bay

On June 21-22, 2017 pilots of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Murmansk Branch pilot service carried out an extra complex navigational operation of unloading the NAN HAI BA HAO floating drilling unit installed onto the HLV “HAI YANG SHI YOU 278” specialized dock ship for the first time.

During the operation, a dumb craft 82 m in length, 61 m in breadth, 35.36 m in free board, 8.2 m in draft with the considerable sail area has been safely put afloat by tugboats from the main deck of a dumb craft, which has slogged 26 m down by taking raw water in a ballast condition. The operation has been carried out with direct involvement of the pilots of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Murmansk Branch.

Upon unloading under the pilots’ recommendations the rig has been towed to the planned permitted anchoring station in the water area of the seaport of Murmansk with the use of four tugboats. Then for several hours the pilots of the Murmansk Branch have been rendering additional information services related to positioning (keeping) of the rig on one point with the use of tugboats for the purpose of starting four anchors at the distance from the rig of about 300 m each.

Due to professional actions of the pilots of the Murmansk Branch the rig has been successfully delivered to the seaport of Murmansk for preparation for further work. It is planned that the rig will stay in the seaport of Murmansk for 10 days.

For reference:

Currently the Murmansk Branch pilot service has 41 pilots. Out of them thirty-eight pilots are first-class pilots. The service is ready to render additional information services for all concerned parties on the terms of contractual relationship.
