After successful voyage to the Kara Sea area, Kapitan Dranitsyn icebreaker returned to the seaport of Murmansk on October 10, 2016.

During a month, for the first time Kapitan Dranitsyn icebreaker had been performing towage of icebergs under the order of FSBI “Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute”.

Professionalism of the icebreaker crew allowed qualitative fulfillment of all the tasks set out in this expedition. As a result of the work of the specialists, invaluable experience of towing icebergs of significant size was acquired, as well as the necessary data for further study of the possibility of changing the route of icebergs drift, which poses a threat to drilling platforms operating in the Arctic, was obtained.
