Makhachkala Sea Area A1 GMDSS Coastal Station undergoes regular survey

Based on the results of the survey made by the Rosmorrechflot commission FSUE “Rosmorport” obtained Certificate of Conformity No. GMDSS-3/1-3118-2018 of December 26, 2018 of the Makhachkala Sea Area A1 GMDSS Coastal Station to IMO A.801(19) Resolution and the requirements of Russia’s Transport Ministry Order No. 226 of July 23, 2015.

Earlier, in 2013, the Makhachkala Coastal Station also underwent successful survey on its conformity to the existing requirements imposed upon the operation of this equipment in the GMDSS system.

Makhachkala Sea Area A1 GMDSS Coastal Station is located in the Sukhogruznaya Harbor of the seaport of Makhachkala and was put in operation in 2001.

Primary equipment of the Makhachkala Coastal Station consists of a VHF receiver transmitter, DSC controllers, antenna feeding installations and other equipment, which ensures functioning and life support of GMDSS facilities.

The effective area of the radio station is 23 nautical miles.

The use of the Makhachkala Sea Area A1 GMDSS Coastal Station allows for:
- keeping radio watch and radio exchange with vessels on the GMDSS VHF frequencies;
- maintaining operational contact between vessels and the marine rescue coordination center of FSBI “The Administration of the Caspian Seaports” to conduct rescue operations;
- carrying out procedures for processing signals of distress, urgency and security by using a technology of digital selective call with vessels at sea within the area the boundaries of which are determined pursuant to the criteria established by the International Maritime Organization for Sea Area A1 GMDSS Coastal Stations and for ensuring safety.
