Oil Pier No 1 in the seaport of Makhachkala resumes operation upon completion of repair works

Russian VF Tanker 21 carrying crude oil arrived from the seaport of Aladzha (Turkmenistan) and moored at Oil Pier No 1 on October 28, 2019. Mooring operation became possible due to the works carried out by the FSUE “Rosmorport” Makhachkala Branch to complete underwater technical and dredging operations to dismantle and dispose of a forward dolphin of Oil Pier No 1 of the seaport of Makhachkala. Pilots of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Makhachkala Branch performed the safe mooring of the vessel.

A connecting bridge and the forward dolphin were partially destroyed as a result of the piling of the Aktobe tanker in 2017. The operation of the berth hydraulic facility has been suspended.

The dredging operations allowed for putting into operation Berth No 1 of the oil pier by a temporary scheme till full restoration of its forward dolphin. Earlier, in March 2019, the Makhachkala Branch successfully ended underwater technical and dredging operations, which helped putting into operation Berth No 2 of the same oil pier.
