Director of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Azov Basin Branch Andrei Vakhrushev took part in a session of the Maritime Council at the Government of the Rostov Region on March 20, 2020. The session was chaired by Rostov Region Deputy Governor Viktor Vovk.
Andrei Vakhrushev gave a report on the state and measures to create conditions for ensuring navigation safety and the waterways maintenance of the Lower Don River, the water areas of the seaports of Rostov-on-Don and Azov, and the Azov-Don Marine Shipping Canal.
During his speech, the director noted that the branch had placed 220 aids to navigation during the summer period and 116 aids to navigation during the winter period in the waters areas of the seaports of Azov and Rostov-on-Don along the 94 kilometers of the route.
Last year based on the results of the measurements of depth the Azov-Don Marine Shipping Canal navigational dimensions have been maintained pursuant to their passport data. This year the branch faces the similar task to maintain the dimensions within the given parameters. In 2020 dredging operations amounted to over 139,000 cubic meters on the Azov-Don Marine Shipping Canal.
In his speech, Andrei Vakhrushev noted that in 2019 with the use of the branch’s resources and manpower a limiting section was eliminated on the Donetsky rift of the Don River in the seaport of Rostov-on-Don. The dredging operations were carried out from October 10 to November 20, 2019. Over 35,000 cubic meters of soil have been excavated by the Azov Basin Branch with the navigational breadth of 124-242 meters and the navigational depth of four meters.
