Following the results of surveying the Taganrog coastal stations of GMDSS Sea Area A1 and Sea Area A2 FSUE “Rosmorport” has obtained Rosmorrechflot certificates – Certificate No GMDSS-3/1-3069-2018 of February 22, 2018 and Certificate No GMDSS-3/1-3070-2018 of February 22, 2018. The certificates state conformity of the coastal facilities to the requirements approved by Order of the Russia’s Transport Ministry No 226 of July 23, 2015.
The Taganrog coastal stations of GMDSS Sea Area A1 and Sea Area A2 were put into operation on December 23, 2004. They allow for receiving distress messages on VHF channels of the maritime mobile service by using digital individual calls and maintaining contacts with vessels in the mode of radio telephone.
The Taganrog coastal stations of GMDSS Sea A1 and Sea Area A2 allow:
- to make permanent radio watch and radio exchange on the GMDSS frequencies;
- to maintain operational communication between vessels and the Taman maritime rescue sub-center of FSBI “The Administration of Seaports of the Sea of Azov” to organize rescue operations;
- to perform procedures automatically for handling distress calls, urgency and safety by using the digital selective call with vessels located at sea within the area the boundary of which has been determined in accordance with the criteria approved by the International Maritime Organization for coastal radio stations of GMDSS Sea Area A1 and Sea Area A2 and for ensuring safety.
In 2007, 2010 and 2013 the Taganrog coastal stations of GMDSS Sea Area A1 and Sea Area A2 had successfully undergone certification which resulted in the enterprise being given relevant certificates of their conformity to the existing requirements imposed upon the work of this equipment in the GMDSS system.
The Taganrog coastal station of GMDSS Sea Area A1 includes the communications control center and Base Station No 1 located in the seaport of Taganrog, as well as Base Station No 2 located on the territory of the Pilot Post. The effective areas of Base Station No 1 and Base Station No 2 of GMDSS Sea Area A1 are 23 nautical miles and 21.6 nautical miles respectively.
The Taganrog coastal station of GMDSS Sea Area A2 includes a communications control center located in the seaport of Taganrog, a radio-receiving set in the settlement of Beglitsa and a radio-transmitting set in the settlement of Veselo-Vosnesenka. The effective area of the coastal station of GMDSS Sea Area A2 is 86 nautical miles.
