The FSUE “Rosmorport” Astrakhan Branch organized an excursion aboard the Captain Bukayev icebreaker for schoolchildren of the Municipal Budgetary Educational Institution “Krasnobarrikadnaya Secondary School” on October 22, 2019.

The schoolchildren visit the Club of Sailors in the settlement of Krasnye Barrikady, Ikryaninsky District, Astrakhan Region. In addition to theoretical classes with professors of the Caspian Institute of Maritime and Inland Shipping, they study the construction and the work of the existing marine vessels and river ships.

Captain of the icebreaker Roman Orlov told the children about the particularities of the icebreaker construction and showed the main premises, including the pilot room and the engine space.

While visiting the engine space, schoolchildren studies the major engines of the icebreaker, generators, auxiliary mechanisms and other electric equipment.

During the excursion, children were told about different aspects of the work and lifestyle of crewmembers, on the operation of the icebreaker on the Volga-Caspian Sea Shipping Canal and in the water area of the North Caspian by making vessels pilotage during the winter navigation.
