Astrakhan Branch takes part in the Caspian-2018 exercise

The complex international exercise “Caspian-2018” was held in the north of the Caspian Sea on August 08, 2018. The exercise was aimed at rectifying the consequences of accidents at sea and oil spills of regional importance in the north of the Caspian Sea.

The main goals of the exercise were
- to train operations of forces and means, control agencies for rendering aid to people, marine vessels and aircraft in distress in the Caspian Sea;
- to train interaction with rescue services of the Caspian states;
- to train operations of forces and means while rectifying the consequences of accidents at sea and oil and oil products spills.

The exercise involved representatives of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Astrakhan Branch, FSBI “The Rescue Coordinating Center of Rosmorrechflot”, FSBI “The Administration of Seaports of the Caspian Sea”, FSBI “The Baltic Basin Response and Rescue Directorate”, the Caspian Flotilla of Russia’s Defense Ministry Navy, the Border Guard Directorate of the FSB of Russia for the Republic of Kalmykia and Astrakhan Region, the Southern Directorate of Rosaeronavigatsiya, the Astrakhan Division of the Regional Rescue Base FSI “The Southern Air Search and Rescue Center”, representatives of other agencies and companies, including representatives from the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Azerbaijani Republic, Turkmenistan and Iran.

Astrakhan Branch was represented in the exercise by the crew of the Yenisei pilot boat, which had taken part in the drills as a command and staff vessel.

Based on the results of the exercise the Astrakhan Branch carried out all objectives successfully.

Observers of all Caspian states highly assessed the total results of the Caspian-2018 exercise.
